Temperatures can vary 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit from mountain base to top, and clear skies lower down do not guarantee equally pleasant weather at higher elevations. The higher a location is above sea level, the colder it is. The mountains, because of their mild summer temperatures, have always provided a welcome escape from the heat at lower elevations. It is found on single mountains such as Mount Kilimanjaro and also large areas of high elevation such as the Plateau of Tibet. The weather of the Himalayas is clearly influenced by the monsoon but conversely the uplift of the mountain range along with that of the Tibetan Plateau has played a huge roll on the strength of the Indian Monsoon through time. There are two ingredients that add to the formation of fog in areas of variable terrain. Elevations in the park range from approximately 875 feet to 6,643 feet and the topography can drastically affect local weather. The minimum temperature west of the mountains is 5 degrees cooler than east of the mountains. The annual temperature averages 29 °C in areas of low elevation and 21 °C on the mountains. There are two sides to a mountain: wayward and leeward. Andes Mountain Climate Highland Climate (H) The Andes mountain climate is one of the most interesting climates in the world, because it changes drastically throughout the region. This climate is sometimes called Alpine Climate. These activities are concentrated in three areas: mountains, beaches, and Sandhills. So, this climate is found in high mountain areas.
